Honestly, Id be surprised if they DIDNT do this, as it would give players some character customization with very little effort on the developers. A far more reasonable expectation is alternate colour pallettes for the characters, similar to what you see in 2D fighting games. The demo is currently a work-in-progress preview of the character creation and basic dialogue, but sylvan meadows is intended to play similar to a village simulation game but with heavy emphasis on role-playing elements and characters. They may as well just create an entirely new character at that point.
